Splash Page Testing

This document outlines the splash page testing process.  Additionally, we also review the social media authentication process.

Splash Page Testing Prcoess

Login to the dashboard. Click on Network>Hotspot in the left hand column.  Select the Hotspot you want to view the splash page click “Edit.”

 

Click “View Splash Page” in the top right corner.

 

Note: At a minimum you should see a splash page venue image, splash page header image, basic greeting an terms text, a Connect Button, and a the website’s URL.  Keep in mind the URL will vary if you have your own CNAME / domain name, http://splash.YOURDOMAIN.com/hotspotlogin.php?res=notyet&nasid=yourhotspot.

Social Media Authentication Testing Process

Branding on social media apps and in URLs occurs after CNAME records have been setup properly and social media apps have been submitted.
You will need to resubmit the splash page every time you want to test a different social media app.

When you are testing social media and email authentication it is essential to flag yourself after every successful attempt. Click here to see a related KB on how the dashboard flagging process works.

Facebook Testing

1. Repeat steps 1-6 from Splash Page Testing.
2. Click on Connect With Facebook.
3. You will be redirected to a Facebook page that has your branding.
4. Click on the “Like Page” button.
5. In the pop up window clikc on like.
6. If you select “Check-in On Facebook” or “No – Just Log Me In” you will be redirected to the redirect link in the dashboard

LinkedIn Testing

1. Repeat steps 1-6 from Splash Page Testing.
2. Click on Connect With Linkedin.
3. You will be redirected to a Linkedin login page with your company’s branding.
4. After login you will be redirected to the redirect link for the corresponding hotspot.

Twitter Testing

1. Repeat steps 1-6 from Splash Page Testing.
2. Click on Connect With Twitter.
3. You will be redirected to a Twitter login page with your company’s branding.
4. After login you will be redirected to the redirect link for the corresponding hotspot.
